(ECOsystem-based governance with DAnube lighthouse Living Lab for sustainable Innovation processes)

Project number: 101093908

Start of the project: 01.01.2023

Funding: HORIZON EUROPE

Implementation period: 42 months

Call for project proposals: HORIZON-MISS-2021-OCEAN-02-04-Danube river basin lighthouse – coordination activities

Brief description of the project:

The main objective of EcoDaLLi is to centralise Danube governance structures in terms of innovative solutions for improved ecological restoration, protection and preservation of the Danube basin and its Delta by fostering a stronger innovation ecosystem within a well-connected Practices Living Lab System. EcoDaLLi will present in an integrated way existing practices and will offer the support for complete identification of local and regional needs focusing on 2 approaches: ecosystem connectivity and city-river interactions.

The leading beneficiary from the Bulgarian side is Association of Danube River Municipalities (ADRM). The role of Executive Agency "Maritime Administration" is aimed at exchanging experience and translating resources created by the Danube "lighthouse" to the Bulgarian owners and operators of ports and ship owners.

The project brings governance, business, academia and civil society that co-create and transfer smart knowledge with complementary public and/or private organizations and networks, in order to integrate water protection and restoration innovations at Danube Basin level, for the coordination and support of the Danube Lighthouse and its tools and services.

The implementation of the project is divided into eight work packages:

Work package 1 "Project management"

Work package 2 " NBS & eco-system connectivity for the protection and restoration of freshwater ecosystems and biodiversity"

Work package 3 " Innovative practices in spatial policies for the protection and restoration of freshwater ecosystems and biodiversity"

Work package 4 "Danube river basin Lighthouse governance and networking"

Work package 5 "Fostering a strong innovation ecosystem for the protection and restoration of freshwater ecosystems and biodiversity"
